"I do think it's important to be technologically progressive and responsive to what consumers want. But that's a different thing, in my mind, from creating bad habits," Sapan said in an interview. "To offer these shows for free ... It's almost insulting to the consumer who's paying money for it, because it says to that consumer, 'What are you doing?'"
What kind of reasoning is that? What Josh Sapan really means to say to the Wallstreet Journal is: 'the dumb consumers who are giving away their tiny salaries to my Cable networks for a less than stellar offering are better than the intelligent consumers who have found a way to watch the same TV online and more.'(Read the Wallstreet Journal Article here) Really, who wouldn't bail out on paying a premium for limited repetitive channels to watch FREE online satellite TV with literally thousands of channels. Satellite TV online is apparently shaking up the television world.
Throughout this article Sapan espoused the wonderful offerings the big cable companies were initiating. He proudly touted the supposed 30% increase in women watching cable shows. If that's all Josh has got to hang his hat on then he is in for a RUDE awakening in a few months when online TV watchers increases by about 500%. Yes, it is really that serious...
